How Salary Conversion Works
This calculator uses the following assumptions:
- 1 year = 52 weeks
- Hours per week: default 40 (adjustable)
- Workdays per month: 22 (Mon–Fri)
Conversion Formulas
- Annual → Hourly: Annual ÷ (52 × hours/week)
- Hourly → Annual: Hourly × 52 × hours/week
- Annual → Monthly: Annual ÷ 12
- Annual → Daily: Annual ÷ (22 × 12)
Note: All amounts are gross (before tax) figures.
Reading your conversion
- Minimum wage check: if the converted hourly rate falls below the statutory minimum for the year, the pay is illegal. Note that Korean monthly-salary comparisons use 209 hours (40h/week including paid weekly rest), not raw worked hours.
- Weekly holiday allowance: hourly workers doing 15+ hours a week earn an extra paid rest day — whether a quoted hourly rate includes it changes real pay by roughly 20%.
- Annual ÷ 12 isn't always your paycheck: some Korean employers split salary into 13–14 payments with bonuses. Check the contract's payment structure.
